Flame Firefly (炎ホタル Enhotaru) is a species of firefly living in Ashen Blaze Island's Hiveking Volcano Area. It mostly functions as a middle link of the food chain, feeding on volcanic minerals that contain Gourmet Cells. They are food for many predators and lesser animals.
Anatomy[]
Flame Firefly greatly resembles a green firefly. It is constantly glowing and emitting heat. One firefly can melt metal by landing on it.
As Food[]
Flame Firefly is considered inedible, due to the amount of toxins its body contains from feeding on volcanic ashes. However, very skilled chef can in fact detoxify it by repeatedly flash-boiling and containing it in cold water. Detoxified Flame Firefly is said to be very delicious and juicy, especially if fried or roasted, which makes it crunchy and turns its usually chewy meat into soft, crumbling meat.
