Springeater Seaweed (バネ喰わかめ Banekoi Wakame) is a deadly plant residing in calmer waters near the borders of Area 6's ocean.

Anatomy[]

Springeater Seaweed is a large, spiralling seaweed, that grows out of seafloor or rocks underwater. It usually grows in numerous long strands that connect in their base. Each strang has a sharp, pointy edge. Their outer side is dark, while their inner side is lighter and has three dark stripes running through its whole length.

Behavior[]

This carnivorous plant will try to capture, strangle and devour any animal in its reach. It will only retract and hide in a 'shell', made out of its durable outer side, when a very strong predator approaches it.

Powers and Abilities[]

As a Gourmet World beast, Springeater Seaweed is a very strong creature, surpassing all Human World's beasts in power. It is capable of moving at great speeds and has a surprising amount of strength. The seaweed's body has two different sides, both of which possess different abilities.
The outer side is dark. It is extremely durable against pressure and almost any kind of attack, it is capable of reflecting force and energy like a mirror, and it is even capable of withstanding very powerful toxins.
The inner side is light. It has three lines running along its whole length, which serve as mouth for the beast. Anything that comes into contact with these lines will find itself getting dissolved into parts the size of dust particles, and sucked in the lines at an extreme speed.

As Food[]

Springeater Seaweed is a Gourmet World-class food, that can be turned into high quality nori. Its drying process takes more than 2 months, but the nori itself offers unique and unreplicable element to the sushi it is prepared with, one that is not described as a 'taste', but rather a 'texture' or 'impression' of it, when eating the sushi.
It also should be noted that when used for sushi, the lighter side must never touch the rice, meaning it must always be facing outwards, not inwards.
